Gurmat Sangeet Academy is committed to its responsibility in promoting the safety and welfare of all children and young people. The purpose of this policy is to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>protect children and young people receiving Gurmat Sangeet Academy\u2019s services.<\/li>\n<li>provide staff and volunteers with the overarching principles that guide our approach to safeguarding.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h5>Legal Basis<\/h5>\n<p>This policy has been drawn up on the basis of law and guidance that seeks to protect the children, namely:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Children Act 1989<\/li>\n<li>United Convention of the Rights of the Child 1991<\/li>\n<li>Data Protection Act 1998<\/li>\n<li>Sexual Offences Act 2003<\/li>\n<li>Children Act 2004<\/li>\n<li>Protection of Freedoms Act 2012<\/li>\n<li>Relevant government guidance on safeguarding children<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Responsibilities<\/h3>\n<p>We recognise that:<\/p>\n<p>The welfare of the child is paramount, as enshrined in the Children Act 1989<\/p>\n<p>All children, regardless of age, disability, gender, racial heritage, religious belief, sexual orientation or identity, have a right to equal protection from all types of harm or abuse.<\/p>\n<p>Some children are additionally vulnerable because of the impact of previous experiences, their level of dependency, communication needs or other issues<\/p>\n<p>Working in partnership with children, young people, their parents, carers and other agencies is essential in promoting young people\u2019s welfare.<\/p>\n<p>Our responsibilities include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Assigning a Designated Safeguarding Person (DSP) and Deputy<\/li>\n<li>Ensuring all necessary safeguarding and criminal records checks are completed to ensure the safety and legality of all Gurmat Sangeet Academy staff.<\/li>\n<li>Ensuring all staff complete a Safeguarding training course when they join the company, which must be renewed every two years.<\/li>\n<li>Keeping records of all student attendance of Gurmat Sangeet Academy course.<\/li>\n<li>Delivering our own in-house training for Safeguarding in the specific context of working for Gurmat Sangeet Academy<\/li>\n<li>Ongoing support for all staff on all Safeguarding matters<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>We will seek to keep children and young people safe by:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Valuing them, listening to and respecting them<\/li>\n<li>Adopting child protection practices through procedures and a code of conduct for staff and volunteers<\/li>\n<li>Developing and implementing an effective e-safety policy and related procedures<\/li>\n<li>Providing effective management for staff and volunteers through supervision, support and training<\/li>\n<li>Recruiting staff and volunteers safely, ensuring all necessary checks are made<\/li>\n<li>Sharing information about child protection and good practice with children, parents, staff and volunteers<\/li>\n<li>Sharing concerns with agencies who need to know, and involving parents and children appropriately.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We are committed to reviewing our policy and good practice annually.[\/vc_column_text][vc_button button_color=&#8221;color-174142&#8243; border_width=&#8221;0&#8243; link=&#8221;url:https%3A%2F%2Fgurmatsangeet.org%2Fwp-content%2Fuploads%2F2019%2F07%2FGSA_Safeguarding_Policy_2019.pdf|||&#8221;]Click here to download the latest version of our Safeguarding Policy[\/vc_button][\/vc_column][\/vc_row]<\/p>\n<\/section>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>[vc_row][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/1&#8243;][vc_column_text] GSA Safeguarding Policy This policy applies to all staff, trustees, paid staff, volunteers, students or anyone working on [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":80933,"parent":0,"menu_order":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","template":"","meta":{"_monsterinsights_skip_tracking":false,"_monsterinsights_sitenote_active":false,"_monsterinsights_sitenote_note":"","_monsterinsights_sitenote_category":0,"footnotes":""},"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v21.7 -
